Gunmen suspected to be herders have reportedly killed a businessman and the National Treasurer of Eggon Community Development Association (ECDA) in Nasarawa State, identified as Chief Godwin Bala Ewuga.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday night, May 26, 2024, in Ubbe, Akun Development Area of the state, according to multiple sources. Chief Ewuga, who owned the popular Comfort Zone Motel in Ubbe, was allegedly targeted for resisting abduction.

A family source, Jacob Ezekiel, disclosed that Chief Ewuga’s body was discovered on Monday morning in a farm close to his hotel.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the spokesman of ECDA, Alhaji Umar Galleh, stated that the matter has been reported to the Nigerian police for appropriate action.

Reacting to the tragic news, Mr. Mandy David Abuluya, the President of ECDA, expressed deep shock at Mr. Ewuga’s demise. He emphasized the association’s commitment to collaborating with relevant authorities to unravel the circumstances surrounding Chief Ewuga’s untimely death. Mr. Abuluya extended prayers to law enforcement agencies, expressing hope that the perpetrators would be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.
