The Catholic Diocese of Abakakili in Ebonyi State has refuted the claim of a priest marrying his lover in the state.

Diocesan Chancellor Matthew Opoke clarified that no priest by the name of Jude Obasi exists within the diocese, and the person in the circulated photographs does not resemble any priest known to them. Additionally, there is no Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Abakakili, as stated in the social media reports. Opoke affirmed that there is no priest with the alleged name from Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state.
