On Wednesday, May 29, a fire gutted several wooden shanties at Tejuosho Market in the Yaba area of Lagos State, destroying properties worth millions of naira.

Reports indicate that the fire broke out around 12:30 pm at the market, which includes shops and residences along Tejuosho Canal.

Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries were reported at the time of filing this report.

Unconfirmed sources suggest that the fire was caused by a cooking gas explosion.

Police personnel, officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos Fire Service, Lagos Neighbourhood Security Watch, and other emergency responders rushed to the scene to contain the fire.
