The suspects, named as Ndubuisi Okeh, John Jock, Nafiu Tijani, Nasiru Sulaiman, John Njoku, and Suleiman Musa, were arrested on May 29, 2024, by detectives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) led by Mohammed Baba.

According to police reports, the operation yielded over 1,100 already registered SIM cards, three registration machines, and other related devices. These SIM cards were allegedly sold to criminals at prices ranging from three to five thousand naira each, compromising national security by enabling activities such as fraud and terrorism.

The investigation uncovered that the suspects exploited weaknesses in the SIM card registration process, underscoring significant vulnerabilities in the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.
