A 24-year-old man named Abass Olalere was tragically killed by a gang of twelve unidentified assailants in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. The incident occurred late on Thursday at his home in Labinkulu village, Moniya. His wife and their three-month-old child were present during the brutal attack, which left the community deeply unsettled.

Abass Olalere’s wife, Omolayo Olalere, recounted the harrowing experience, stating that the attackers forcefully entered their home around 9:48 pm. Despite attempts to secure themselves indoors, the assailants broke in, subjected her husband to a merciless assault using various weapons and charms, and ultimately took his life. The gang caused extensive damage to property before fleeing the scene.

The deceased’s father, Jelili Olalere, expressed shock over the senseless act, describing his son as a quiet individual with no known disputes. The family promptly reported the incident to the Moniya Divisional Police Station, where the case is now under investigation. Abass Olalere’s body has been deposited at Adeoyo Hospital’s morgue in Ring Road, Ibadan.

Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for comment were unsuccessful as of the time of reporting.
