False Narrative: Reno Omokri Challenges Eedris Abdulkareem On Adeboye’s Alleged Criticism Of Jonathan
....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reno Omokri has rejected claims that Pastor Adeboye criticized former President Goodluck Jonathan during his tenure in office.

Singer Eedris Abdulkareem, in his latest song, criticized Adeboye, alleging that the cleric vehemently opposed Jonathan’s government but has been silent since President Tinubu took office.

In a post shared on X, Omokri, who served as a media aide to Jonathan, dismissed this narrative as false. He wrote:

“As someone who worked closely with former President Jonathan both during and after his tenure, and maintains a strong friendship with him, I feel compelled to correct the false narrative that Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, opposed our administration or spoke loudly against us.

“The truth is, Pastor Adeboye was supportive of former President Jonathan, both publicly and privately, arguably more than any other president before or after him. He publicly prayed for President Jonathan before the 2011 and 2015 elections. His support was particularly significant in 2015 when General Buhari’s running mate was an RCCG pastor.

“I cannot disclose other positive actions he took for our government publicly. Perhaps he will do so himself in due course.

“Pastor Adeboye also extended a hand of fellowship to President Jonathan, to the extent that the President was honored as a guest at their Holy Ghost Congresses.

“In terms of criticism, Pastor Adeboye was more critical of the Buhari administration than ours, particularly concerning insecurity rather than the economy. This culminated in a nationwide protest against insecurity led by Pastor Adeboye on February 2, 2020, during which he and other RCCG leaders carried placards and instructed members nationwide to participate. This was unprecedented!

Obaseki Commends Nigerians' Fortitude In The Face Of Economic Challenges

“While such claims may grab headlines and popularity, the notion that Pastor Adeboye criticized President Jonathan and remained silent afterward is false and does not reflect well on either the former President or Pastor Adeboye. It also does a disservice to Nigeria.

“I urge those propagating this narrative to research historical records rather than rely on hearsay and the Nigerian tendency to believe and act on rumors and gossip rather than facts.

“Let’s debunk the saying that to hide anything from a Black man, simply put it in writing. We can achieve this by researching past writings, which a simple Google search can confirm or disprove.”
