Abdullahi Blasts Kachikwu: ‘Be Ashamed For Claiming ADC Is Chasing Northern Agenda

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed allegations by its 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, that the party is pushing a northern agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.

ADC’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, criticised Kachikwu, saying he ought to be ashamed for making such remarks, describing them as absurd. He stressed that the ADC was established to serve the entire nation, not any particular region, religion, or age group.

“It’s utterly ridiculous, and he should be ashamed of himself. The ADC has, from inception, made it clear that it is neither a party of the North nor the South, neither Muslim nor Christian, neither for the old nor the young. It is a party deliberately created to build the future Nigeria deserves,” Abdullahi said on Sunday in an interview with Channels Television.

His comments were in direct response to Kachikwu’s claim that the ADC is opposed to fielding a southern candidate and is instead advancing a northern political agenda.

Supporting Abdullahi’s stance, Mani Ibrahim, a coalition chieftain and former ADC Board of Trustees chairman, asserted that Kachikwu no longer belongs to the party and therefore has no authority to speak on its behalf.

“Dumebi Kachikwu is not a member of our party, does not represent us, and should not be taken seriously,” Ibrahim added.
