Abdulrazaq Dismisses Saraki, Ahmed’s Influence, Names New Kwara Projects After Tinubu And Former Governors

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has approved the naming of various completed and ongoing projects across the state in honor of prominent figures, historic leaders, and personalities.

Among the most significant announcements is the naming of the multibillion-naira Civil Service Clinic project after Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is scheduled to visit Kwara between January 28 and 30, 2025, to officially commission several projects.

The Governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, revealed that other projects will be named after notable individuals such as football legend Rashidi Yekini, late General Tunde Idiagbon, Brigadier General David Bamigboye, Rear Admiral Muhammed Alabi Lawal, and many others.

However, the list of honorees notably excludes former Governors Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed.

During her visit, Senator Tinubu will inaugurate the ICT Centre established under her Renewed Hope Initiative at the Kwara State University of Education, alongside various legacy projects like the Unity Flyover, the state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit, Executive Ward, and the General Tunde Idiagbon Flyover.

Additionally, the groundbreaking ceremony for the newly revamped Civil Service Clinic will take place during her visit.

Other key projects include the renaming of the ICT Centre to honor former Minister Amina Ndalolo, the Executive Ward at the Kwara State Teaching Hospital after Dr. Amuda Aluko, and the first state secretariat to be named after Brigadier General David Bamigboye. The new secretariat will be named in recognition of Rear Admiral Muhammed Alabi Lawal.

Other facilities being renamed include Kwara State Stadium Complex, now called Major-General George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, with the stadium’s main bowl renamed in honor of Rashidi Yekini. Various sports facilities are also receiving new names, such as the Table Tennis Arena (Atanda Musa), the Indoor Sports Hall (Gabriel Babatunde Ladipo), the Squash Court (Coach Bolakale Mogaji), and KFA Academy (Coach Usuman Adenuja).

Additionally, several hostels within the stadium complex will be named after prominent Kwarans such as Salihu Ishola, Bolaji Eniola, and Bola Esan.
