Abuja Drug Ring Cracked: Three Suspects in Police Net with Hard Drugs

Three individuals suspected of drug trafficking have been apprehended in Abuja during a series of coordinated police operations aimed at dismantling known drug hubs in the city. The raids resulted in the confiscation of various illegal substances.

Police sources identified the suspects as Ahmed Lawal, Joy Josiah, and Sule Nuhu, who were arrested on June 23 in separate operations at Limpopo Street in Dutse Alhaji and behind the MTN office in Maitama. The clampdown was triggered by credible intelligence on ongoing narcotics activities.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, items recovered from the suspects included large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, sachets of a substance known as “Ghana Loud,” eight sachets of Arizona, and several tablets of a local drug called “Moly.”

The police stated that the arrests are part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse within the Federal Capital Territory.

The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, while the recovered items have been documented as evidence. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be charged soon.
