Olusegun Peters, Chairman of the party, made this call during the inauguration of the Abia State executives in Umuahia. He highlighted that since the assassination of Gen. Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi on July 29, 1966, no Igbo person has held the presidency. Peters, represented by ACC National Vice Chairman for the Northwest, Ibrahim Abdullahi, noted that in the 25 years of democratic rule, neither an Igbo has occupied the presidency, while the North and South West have each held the office twice.

The ACC emphasizes equity and is committed to ensuring power distribution among Nigeria’s three major ethnic groups: Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba. Abdullahi expressed confidence that the economic challenges facing the country could be addressed through the innovative capabilities of an Igbo leader.

During the inauguration, Peters urged the newly appointed Abia State executives to foster unity and collaboration within the State Working Committee (SWC). He reiterated the party’s commitment to representing all Nigerians regardless of their religious, ethnic, or educational backgrounds.

National Vice Chairman for North-Central, Hon. Illya Juan, National Publicity Secretary Hon. Abubakar Sadiq, and National Vice Chairman for South-East, Vincent Eberechukwu, congratulated the new executives and expressed hope for their success in the upcoming elections.

Acting State Chairman of ACC, Onyekachi Uwalaka, thanked the party for its trust and promised to focus on winning both governorship and legislative seats in Abia in 2027. The newly inaugurated officials include State Vice Chairman Dr. Jiwuba Peter and party Secretary Dr. Innocent Ikoro, among other key officers.
