In the initial petition, the tribunal has dismissed the case brought forth by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) challenging the election of Governor Sule. The tribunal found the petition to lack merit, and no costs were awarded against any party.

Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, presiding over a three-member panel, conducted the virtual proceedings and affirmed the legitimacy of Governor Sule’s election.

Recalling the events of March 20, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had officially declared Abdullahi Sule, representing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as the victor of the gubernatorial election. Sule secured the highest number of votes during the polls, securing his re-election for a second term in office with 209, surpassing his closest rival, David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 283,016 votes. Abdullahi Maidoya of the NNPP garnered 11,726 votes.
