ADC Accuses Government Of Using Public Money To Stifle Demonstrations

Dr. Raph Nwosu, the National Chairman of ADC, expressed his discontent with the government’s efforts to prevent the strike and questioned why President Tinubu appeared apprehensive about the protest. Nwosu made these remarks during the inauguration of the State Campus and Youth Development Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday.

“Why is the government so afraid of a protest? You are attempting to stop people who are starving from striking by mobilizing security forces and redirecting funds. Why not use that money to provide food for the people? Is this democracy or dictatorship?” he asked.

Nwosu criticized the misuse of resources, citing that billions of dollars wasted in Akwa Ibom State over the past 24 years could have developed a major city in the U.S. He stressed the need for systemic change and urged his party members to intensify their efforts to drive Nigeria forward.

He also called for a vigorous membership expansion, stating, “By 2027, we aim to take over Aso Rock and all state government houses, including those in Akwa Ibom, to offer better leadership. This goal can only be achieved through increased membership and demonstrating our superior plans for the country.”

Mr. Dick Udom, the state chairman, affirmed the party’s readiness to win the 2027 gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections, noting the failure of the two major parties and the public’s desire for a change.

Dr. Godwin Umontuen, a newly appointed Board of Trustee member from Akwa Ibom, reiterated the party’s commitment to advocating for good governance and promised that ADC would make a significant impact in Nigerian politics from May 2027.
