Speaking during the Holy Communion service at the annual RCCG convention, Adeboye shared a troubling incident involving one of his spiritual daughters. He revealed that she was asked to inflate a ₦3 million road contract to ₦33 million. The contract, awarded for roadwork in a Nigerian state, was originally proposed by her at ₦3 million, but she was pressured to increase it to ₦33 million.

Adeboye remarked, “We talk about corruption in Nigeria. The reason it is so pervasive is that Christians, who are meant to be distinctive and make a difference, are often not setting themselves apart. It should be evident from a distance that we are candidates for heaven by our behavior and character.”

He recounted that when his spiritual daughter refused to inflate the contract amount, she was met with disbelief. Another of his followers faced a similar issue; after being awarded a road contract, she discovered the road was already completed and was told to accept payment and give a share back.
