Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed speculation that he resigned from office against the wishes of President Bola Tinubu, insisting he stepped down with the President’s full approval and blessing.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Adelabu resigned to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but reports had suggested he failed to make adequate consultations before leaving office. There were also claims that President Tinubu had hoped to consider him for the position of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy following the resignation of Wale Edun.

According to reports citing sources in the Presidency and among Adelabu’s aides, the President was reluctant to see him leave and had reportedly tried to dissuade him from resigning. A Presidency source was quoted as saying Adelabu was not sacked but voluntarily resigned after meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

Responding to the speculation through a statement issued by his Media Aide, Femi Awogboro, Adelabu rejected claims of any disagreement with the President, describing such reports as unfounded. He maintained that Tinubu was fully aware of and endorsed his decision before he stepped down.

The statement urged those spreading contrary narratives to desist, insisting the reports were baseless. It also suggested that criticism directed at Adelabu was partly driven by reactions to the large reception he received upon his return to Ibadan last Thursday.
