Adeleke Claims 80% Infrastructural Deficit Inherited From Previous Administration

Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has revealed that upon assuming office, he was faced with an infrastructural deficit of more than 80% left by the immediate past administration of the state. Represented by Chief Lai Orilowo, Group Managing Director of Odua Investment Company Limited, Adeleke expressed his commitment to addressing the infrastructure challenges, emphasizing that tangible results of his administration’s efforts were evident to all.

He highlighted the completion of several projects initiated by his predecessor, noting that his administration had also put an end to the practice of paying workers half salaries, ensuring timely remuneration for both workers and pensioners. Additionally, Adeleke mentioned the government’s efforts to reimburse diverted contributory pensions and provide health insurance for pensioners.

Adeleke emphasized the importance of a well-functioning public service, stating that regular payment of salaries and promotion arrears has been ensured under his leadership. He underscored the interdependence between the formal and informal workforce in Osun State, emphasizing that the welfare of public servants directly impacts the informal workforce’s vitality.

Furthermore, Adeleke outlined his administration’s commitment to completing inherited projects and accelerating the state’s development. He assured that all contractors inherited from the previous administration were retained, with a focus on delivering on signed agreements.

Highlighting ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Ikirun-Osogbo dualization and the Osogbo Ring Road, Adeleke stressed the significance of infrastructure in fostering development.

Adeleke called for support from groups like the Osun Development Association to drive the state’s digital economy, education, health, and agriculture sectors forward.

In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, commended the association for its efforts in promoting the state’s development and urged continued collaboration to leverage members’ experience for the state’s advancement.

Dr. Segun Aina, Chairman of the association, highlighted the organization’s interventions aimed at promoting peace and development in the state. He announced the inauguration of a 15-member council of elders to provide advisory support for the association’s development initiatives
