Adeleke underscored that free and fair elections are vital to sustaining a robust democracy, acknowledging the sacrifices made for the country’s return to civilian rule in 1999. He called upon Nigerian politicians to uphold democratic principles by respecting the electorate’s choices and committing to fortifying the electoral process to ensure transparency and prevent subversion of the people’s will.

The governor emphasized that celebrating democracy entails safeguarding its core tenets, including conducting elections devoid of manipulation and adhering to the rule of law.
