In a statement from the governor’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, it was noted that the decision followed a security council meeting chaired by Adeleke in Osogbo. The statement emphasized the need to protect the bridge from potential collapse and prevent incidents related to the continued use of heavy trucks.
As a precautionary measure, Governor Adeleke has directed the Ministry to install barricades on the bridge, allowing only cars and buses to pass. Additionally, the Ministry has been tasked with issuing a travel advisory, supported by radio jingles, to inform the public and transport operators of the new restrictions.
Adeleke reassured citizens that this decision prioritizes public safety and the preservation of state infrastructure. He also mentioned that a comprehensive assessment of the bridge’s technical condition would be conducted by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
