Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of diversification and highlighted that a functional cargo/commercial airport would contribute to growing Osun as an export-oriented economy and position it as a global tourist destination, given its hosting of significant Yoruba cultural assets.
To actualize this economic transformation, the governor revealed that the recently signed 2024 budget incorporates plans and agendas for reconstruction and eventual recovery. He reiterated his commitment to the principles guiding the five-point agenda of his administration, emphasizing transparency, accountability, open government, localization, responsive leadership, and alignment with citizens’ aspirations.
Governor Adeleke shared insights into the challenges faced by his administration in the past 12 months, including enduring belt-tightening measures and coping with the absence of state vehicles due to the actions of the previous government officials. Despite these challenges, he affirmed the determination of his team to deliver on electoral promises.
The governor underscored the commitment to anti-corruption, transparency, accountability, and due process, emphasizing adherence to the rule of law and a strong sense of responsibility before God.
Acknowledging the economic challenges faced by Osun and other states, Governor Adeleke commended President Bola Tinubu’s efforts toward economic restoration. He assured residents that intervention funds from the Federal Government and development partners were being judiciously applied for their intended purposes.
Looking ahead, Governor Adeleke expressed optimism about refocusing attention on alleviating current economic hardships while simultaneously building the state’s economic base. He affirmed the achievability of these goals based on the administration’s demonstrated commitment over the past year.
