Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disavowed the campaign, labeling it an attempt to create discord between the Yoruba and other ethnic groups. In response, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, reassured Igbos and other residents of the Southwest that there is no need to fear expulsion.

Afenifere condemned the provocative call, suggesting it aims to incite division between Ndigbo and Yoruba communities. The group emphasized that only those involved in criminal activities should fear legal repercussions. They urged security agencies, particularly the police, to take action against those behind the campaign.
