Africa’s First Ladies Recognize Oluremi Tinubu With Prestigious OAFLAD Appointment

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has been elected as a member of the Steering Committee of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), the highest decision-making body of the organization.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Mrs. Tinubu will serve a two-year tenure in the newly appointed position.

According to a statement by her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, on Saturday, the election took place during the 29th Ordinary General Assembly of OAFLAD, held in Addis Ababa on the sidelines of the 38th African Union Summit Ordinary Session.

The newly elected OAFLAD President is Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of Sierra Leone, while Ana Afonso Dias Lourenço, First Lady of Angola, will serve as Vice President.

Other committee members include:

  • Monica Chakwera, First Lady of Malawi
  • Rachel Chebet Ruto, First Lady of Kenya
  • Zinash Tayachew, First Lady of Ethiopia
  • Constancia Mangue Nsue Okomo, First Lady of Equatorial Guinea
  • First Lady of Congo

Oluremi Tinubu joins the 8-member Steering Committee as one of two representatives from West Africa. She is expected to further strengthen OAFLAD’s advocacy efforts and contribute to the implementation of the 2025-2030 Strategic Framework.
