Speaking during a church service, Odumeje downplayed the significance of the Grammys, emphasizing that Davido’s success and influence in music extend far beyond trophies.
He told the congregation that the singer’s name, career, and impact already place him above any award platform. The cleric described Davido as a rare talent whose accomplishments in music are achievements in their own right.
According to Odumeje, the recognition Davido has earned through his fans and his contributions to the music industry is already sufficient.
He also urged the singer not to let criticism or disappointment dampen his joy or confidence, encouraging him to stay focused, find new inspiration, and continue creating music that captivates audiences worldwide.
The cleric cautioned Davido to ignore negative voices and avoid giving attention to places or people who fail to appreciate his efforts, reminding him that his achievements and status are already remarkable.
Davido was nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 68th Grammy Awards for his collaboration with Omah Lay on the song With You. Other nominees included Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Ayra Starr, with Tyla winning the award for the second consecutive year.
