Akpabio Saga Heats Up As Natasha Blasts Agbakoba’s Commentary On Evidence

Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has reaffirmed her commitment to pursuing her sexual harassment case against Senate President Godswill Akpabio through legal channels until its conclusion.

According to Naija News, this comes in response to a letter from Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, who demanded a retraction of what he described as baseless and defamatory claims.

Agbakoba argued that Natasha failed to address the contradictions in her initial allegations, as requested in his earlier letter dated April 14, 2025.

In her reply, dated April 30 and addressed to Agbakoba’s chambers in Abuja, Natasha maintained that her allegations are truthful and stem from personal experiences. She criticised the demand for clarification outside the existing legal proceedings, noting that the claims are already before the High Court of the FCT in a case filed by Akpabio’s wife, Unoma (Suit No. CV/816/25).

Natasha emphasized that only the court has the jurisdiction to assess the evidence and deliver a ruling on the matter.

She further questioned the rationale behind Akpabio’s alleged use of media campaigns—spearheaded through his counsel—to press for evidence, despite having resisted Senate deliberation on the issue, potentially exploiting his position.

“The assessment of evidence is solely within the court’s purview,” she wrote. “Your client’s demand for evidence in this manner reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of what constitutes sexual harassment under international legal frameworks.”

She described the move as a public distraction and a tactic to trivialize a serious issue. “Further details, if needed, will be provided through proper legal disclosure, in accordance with court directives,” she added, warning against any attempt to undermine due process and the rule of law.
