Akpabio’s Aide Fires Back At Senate President’s Sister-In-Law Over Murder Claims

Through his spokesperson, Eseme Eyiboh, speaking to Premium Times, Akpabio urged Pat to report such allegations to the relevant security agencies instead of airing them on social media.

Eyiboh stated, “Killing is a serious matter under our criminal justice system. Any citizen aware of such a crime should responsibly report it to the appropriate authorities for investigation. Murder is not a tool for political vendetta. The law is clear: anyone who makes an assertion must provide proof.”

Pat, in a viral Facebook video on October 11, accused Akpabio of betrayal and announced her intention to contest the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial seat in 2027.

Eyiboh, however, dismissed the allegations as “attention-seeking,” emphasizing that the Senate President remains focused on his duties. “I think she is just seeking attention. The Senate President is very busy and will not be distracted,” he added.

When asked about potential damage to Akpabio’s reputation, Eyiboh insisted the claims carried no weight. “It cannot damage him because everyone else knows the accusations are baseless,” he said.

Addressing concerns about unresolved killings during Akpabio’s governorship, Eyiboh noted that insecurity is a national and global challenge. “It would be unfair to blame Akpabio for insecurity. No one would hold President Tinubu responsible for Boko Haram or other violent incidents solely because it is his government. The rise in cult-related activities and drug issues is largely independent of state leadership,” he explained.
