Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have declared that the party will not require traditional campaigning ahead of the 2027 elections, citing visible development projects, extensive empowerment programmes, and strategic political appointments attributed to the efforts of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The position was expressed during the maiden APC Home Going Weekend rally held at the council secretariat field in Afaha Ikot Ebak. Party Chairman, Ntiedo Usoro, noted that the APC has grown into a dominant political force in the state, crediting Akpabio’s defection from the PDP as a bold move that reshaped the state’s political landscape and helped place Akwa Ibom in a top national position. He urged all eligible residents to prioritise voter registration and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards in readiness for the 2027 elections.

Usoro reaffirmed the community’s commitment to backing President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Eno for a second term, insisting that the progress recorded in Essien Udim is a product of their leadership. He added that Indigenes “owe the Senate President honour” for his contributions and must reciprocate the governor’s goodwill by delivering overwhelming support in 2027.

The member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, Ukpong Akpabio II, emphasised that the rally was organised to demonstrate unity and loyalty, adding that the massive turnout signalled that the APC would not need to campaign in the area. He expressed confidence that votes from Essien Udim in 2027 would “resonate loudly” at the electoral commission.

Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Anthony Luke, said his loyalty to the governor stemmed from the trust and opportunity given to him. He asserted that the developmental strides across all wards—facilitated through the influence of the Senate President—made full support for the APC in 2027 a natural obligation for the people.

Several party leaders, including federal and local representatives, delivered goodwill messages, while all wards in the LGA participated in a march past led by their respective executives, political appointees, and supporters.
