Troops from Operation Hakorin Damisa IV, while on duty on July 26, 2023, along Rugan/Basiru village in the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, engaged in a firefight with suspected bandits. The bandits retreated due to the troops’ professional response. The military recovered 2 AK-47 Rifles with Registration Number 07873 and B-32134, 15 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 3 locally fabricated guns, and a pair of military desert camouflage uniforms during the encounter. In the same vein, the troops also thwarted a planned attack on the Mangun and Patlong villages in the Mangu Local Government Area. The troops’ decisive response resulted in many of the bandits being neutralized, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
On July 25, 2023, along the Janneret/Washina Changal and Gyambwas roads in Mangu LGA, troops responded to shots fired by suspected bandits who fled upon seeing the troops. During the process, the troops recovered 3 motorcycles and 1 locally fabricated gun. The troops also responded to a distress call at Rumfar Gwamna village where they rescued five kidnap victims and recovered a Toyota Camry and Sharon cars. In addition, troops conducted operations in the criminal hideouts at Unguwan Haruna, Kibam, and Dogon Daji forest, resulting in the rescue of 4 victims and the arrest of 2 suspected kidnappers.
Moreover, on July 22, 2023, troops responded to a distress call at Makabat village in Bokkos, leading to the capture of 2 miscreants and the recovery of 2 locally fabricated rifles. In addition, a Combat Team along the Fan District of Barkin-Ladi LGA recovered 15 rustled cows, while 37 cows were seized for grazing on locals’ farmlands in Shimlan and Barkin Ladi villages. Troops also apprehended a notorious gunrunner, who was responsible for trafficking arms and ammunition in the North West and North Central, during a sting operation, resulting in the recovery of an AK-47 Rifle and magazine at Soi village, Gidan Akwati Gashish District.
