Alleged Naira Misuse: Cubana Chief Priest And EFCC Seek Out-Of-Court Resolution

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, have reached an agreement to resolve the allegations of naira abuse against him outside the courtroom.

The trial of the popular figure proceeded at the Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday, May 2.

During today’s proceedings, both parties opted for an out-of-court settlement. Consequently, the trial was adjourned until June 5 for the consideration of the settlement report.

Earlier reports indicated that on April 16, the EFCC filed three charges against Chief Priest concerning the purported spraying and manipulation of the Naira. The incidents allegedly occurred at an event held at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024, another event in Lagos in January 2024, and a separate occasion in 2020. Chief Priest was arraigned before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on April 17.

Upon the reading of the charges in court, Chief Priest entered a plea of not guilty. Subsequently, he was granted bail in the amount of N10 million, with two reliable sureties required to provide a similar sum. The court ordered that the conditions of bail be fulfilled within seven days.
