Amid Rift Rumours, Tobi Makinde Reveals Real Reason Funke Akindele Skipped His Wedding

Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has dismissed rumours of a fallout with filmmaker Funke Akindele, explaining that her absence from his wedding was due to work commitments rather than any disagreement between them.

Makinde addressed the speculation during an interview with TVC, following questions from fans about why Akindele was not present at his wedding.

The actor said there is no rift between them, stressing that they continue to enjoy a cordial relationship.

He explained that the timing of his wedding coincided with Akindele’s promotional activities for one of her films, making it difficult for her to attend the ceremony.

According to Makinde, he fully understood her absence because of her dedication to her craft and the demanding nature of film promotions.

He also pointed out that it is common for some invited guests to miss weddings due to personal or professional obligations, noting that several other invitees were also unable to attend.

Reflecting on their relationship, Makinde praised Akindele for the significant role she has played in his career, saying her support and mentorship have contributed immensely to his growth in the film industry.

“To be honest, I’ve addressed this over and over again. There’s no problem. Her not coming to my wedding is totally understandable. It was a period when she was promoting her film and, to be honest, we all know how it is when she’s promoting her film.

“She takes her craft seriously, so it’s very understandable. Not everybody you invite to your wedding is going to come. I mean, not everybody I invited came. So there’s no problem in that department. That’s somebody who has contributed immensely to my career. It’s not all our films that are being made. That’s what growth is about,” he said.
