Anambra Government Cracks Down On Fake Drink Production SyndicateThe Anambra State Ministry of Health has uncovered an illegal wine factory producing counterfeit versions of various exotic drinks, imitating authentic brands. In collaboration with the state’s paramilitary agency, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade), seven individuals were arrested at the factory in Nkpor, near Onitsha, and the facility was sealed off.

According to DAILY POST, OCHA Brigade officers raided the facility, which had been involved in mass-producing and distributing fake wines and other exotic beverages for public consumption over the years.

A statement from the Anambra State Ministry of Health revealed that the operation was part of a coordinated effort led by the Federal Government’s Presidential Task Force, in partnership with the state government, to combat economic sabotage and oil vandalism.

The ministry noted, “Seven suspects were arrested, and others are being questioned to expose other syndicates responsible for the widespread circulation of fake products that have caused numerous health issues among Ndi Anambra.”

The arrested individuals have been arraigned and will face prosecution, with further efforts underway to apprehend more members of the syndicate.
