Anambra Governor Soludo Sh*cks Supporters, Explains Why He Wept Openly During Council Visit

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has promised to run an all-inclusive government if re-elected, assuring that no citizen will be left behind in his next administration.

Speaking during the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship campaign rally in Anambra East on Wednesday, Soludo recounted an emotional experience that moved him to tears during a visit to Enugu Ukwu and Aguleri communities.

The governor said the deplorable state of infrastructure in the area — including bad roads, poor schools, and lack of healthcare facilities — left him heartbroken.

He recalled, “The oldest man in Enugu Otu told me they needed a tarred road. When I visited Enugu Ukwu Aguleri, I cried publicly. We spent almost one and a half hours driving through the worst road I have ever seen.

“I asked them, what if someone had a medical emergency at 1 a.m.? They said there was no hospital. I asked about pipe-borne water and electricity — they said no to all.

“When I got there, school children lined the road holding cardboard papers listing their needs — no seats, leaking roofs, and lack of teachers. It was heartbreaking.”

Soludo, however, said his subsequent visit brought him joy, as several projects had since been completed.

“The last time I went there, I saw a solar-powered borehole, power lines, and a brand-new general hospital with doctors and medical personnel. This time, the school children were no longer holding lists of complaints but dancing in celebration,” he said.

He concluded, “The first time I went, I cried. The second time, I laughed. That’s because our mission is to bring hope. Even in difficult terrains where road construction is costly, we must never tell the people there is no hope — we must give them one.”
