Around ten fully-armed policemen arrived at his residence in Lugbe, Abuja, in two Sienna buses.

In the presence of his wife and children, Mr. Onuorah was arrested, despite their futile attempts to inquire from the police the reason behind apprehending the head of their family.

The police confiscated Mr. Onuorah’s phones, effectively severing his communication with others, including his family members.

Before being taken to the Lugbe police station by stern-looking operatives, he was denied the opportunity to contact his lawyer or any of his relatives.

To ensure Mr. Onuorah’s isolation and prevent any possibility of securing bail, the arresting officers, although not affiliated with the Lugbe Police Station, simply deposited him there without leaving any contact information for friends and family to reach them.

In response to the arrest, the management of Globalupfront Newspapers demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Madu Onuorah.

The management emphasized that Onuorah, a former Abuja Bureau Chief of The Guardian Newspaper and former Managing Director of The AUTHORITY Newspaper, has consistently operated within the confines of the law
