In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Basiru clarified that Tinubu’s administration has not hindered anyone from protesting or detained individuals for criticizing the government. He emphasized that the protest leaders’ demands are political rather than centered on governance shortcomings.

Basiru underscored ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to address Nigeria’s challenges, stating, “Talk is cheap; I expect Atiku Abubakar to lead on the day of the protest. Our government and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have not obstructed anyone from protesting.”
