Tinubu’s academic credentials indicate that he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, and management from CSU in 1979. However, allegations have arisen regarding potential discrepancies in his certificate.

In the suit filed, Abubakar sought a court-ordered subpoena of Tinubu’s records at CSU to address the academic background controversy, aiming to assist the election petition tribunal.

Tinubu, in response, attributed any discrepancies to a clerical error made by an unidentified university clerk when recently issuing his certificate. He asserted that the error resulted in an appearance of differences.

Bala Ibrahim, the Director of Publicity for the APC, commented on the matter, stating that if Atiku followed due process, there should be no issue with his request. However, he acknowledged not being fully informed about the US legal context.

Speaking to The PUNCH, Paul Ibe expressed that the APC’s stance indicated a distancing from Tinubu amid the controversies surrounding him.

Ibe noted that Tinubu’s identity seemed to be embroiled in controversy, pointing to claims about his education history and the current academic dispute.

On the other hand, PDP’s National Executive Committee member, Osadolor, commended the APC director of publicity for his stance, suggesting that the truth is known but is avoided for convenience.

He emphasized that the mystery surrounding Tinubu’s academic records is apparent, and the director’s response indicates a reluctance to address the matter head-on.
