The lawmakers were among several aspirants disqualified from participating in the APC primaries.

Also ruled out of the race were retired Air Commodore John Opera and Anderson Igbiki, both reportedly aligned with Siminalayi Fubara.

Meanwhile, the party approved 21 aspirants to contest the primaries, including the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule.

Amaewhule, who is contesting for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat, is aiming to succeed his kinsman and current Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda.

Abiante is considered one of the notable Rivers politicians who obtained a governorship nomination form in support of Governor Fubara.

Confirming the development, APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Chibike Ikenga, issued a statement in Port Harcourt on Friday.

The statement, titled “Final List of Aspirants for the House of Representatives Primary Election for Saturday, 16th May, 2026,” noted that the party’s national leadership approved the final list and urged all aspirants to comply with the decision.

Ikenga stated that the APC leadership had officially released the names of cleared and disqualified aspirants ahead of the primaries scheduled for May 16, 2026, stressing that all concerned members should take the directive seriously in view of the upcoming election.
