Obanikoro made this known while speaking with journalists at the APC secretariat in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

According to him, the committee decided to shift the exercise to Friday in order to ensure a smooth, transparent and properly managed process.

“We postponed the election due to logistic issues. We arrived late, and in the interest of fairness to all aspirants and to ensure effective management of the process, we needed an extra day,” Obanikoro said.

The APC governorship primaries, initially scheduled for Thursday, were earlier postponed unexpectedly until Friday.

Speaking further, Obanikoro assured party members and aspirants that the committee was fully prepared to conduct the exercise across the state on Friday.

He also urged all aspirants to embrace unity and view the emergence of any candidate as a collective victory for the party.

Obanikoro stressed that the APC remained one family and that the interests of the party should take priority over personal ambition.

“We should see the victory of one aspirant as the victory of all. No one should treat another member’s success as a personal loss if truly the party’s interest comes first,” he stated.

He described the meeting with aspirants as a family discussion aimed at promoting understanding and unity ahead of the primaries.

“It is a family meeting. I am an APC member from Lagos, and I came here to engage with fellow APC family members. We had a frank discussion concerning the governorship primaries scheduled for tomorrow,” he added.

Ten governorship aspirants attended the strategic meeting held on Thursday evening following the postponement announcement.

Those present included Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (MFR), Dr Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, Prof Wale Sulaiman, Engr Femi Sanni, Dr Tajudeen Alabi, Aisha Ahmad-Patigi, Mohammed Bio, Musiliat Yetunde Adebowale, Dr Muideen Salako and Captain Ahmad Mahmoud.
