Ologunagba emphasized that this revelation contradicts President Tinubu’s earlier claims that his administration had ceased fuel subsidy payments. He condemned the APC for imposing high fuel prices on Nigerians while allegedly diverting trillions into the private accounts of corrupt APC leaders. He also recalled how APC leaders had previously attempted to deflect attention from this issue.
Expressing dismay at the administration’s actions amidst national hardship, Ologunagba demanded transparency regarding the source of the N5.4 trillion, the responsible government agency, recipients, and criteria for subsidy allocation. He questioned why fuel prices remain high despite these subsidies being paid.
The PDP called on President Tinubu to publicly address these concerns, initiate a thorough investigation into the alleged subsidy payments, and overhaul his economic team to curb corruption and better address Nigeria’s economic challenges.
Furthermore, the PDP urged Tinubu to listen to Nigerians’ grievances, warning of the dire consequences of ignoring widespread suffering.
