In a twist that would be laughable if it weren’t so serious, exam papers for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were reportedly distributed to teachers ahead of time. The goal? To coach students and artificially inflate Edo State’s academic performance metrics. This blatant manipulation came to light when these exam papers were found being used by street vendors to wrap corn and akara.
This shocking discovery has only added fuel to the fire of discontent burning through Edo State. The situation is eerily reminiscent of the Sobe farm scheme, another project under Obaseki’s administration that residents allege to be fraudulent. With Edobest now under the same cloud of suspicion, the APC New Media Campaign Council insists that Governor Obaseki must provide a full and transparent account of these anomalies.
“Governor Obaseki, it’s time to face the music,” -Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah the director for the APC New Media Campaign Council stated. “The people of Edo State deserve to know why exam papers were distributed ahead of time and how they ended up in the hands of street vendors. The integrity of our education system and the future of our children are at stake.”
The APC New Media Campaign Council’s demand for answers underscores a broader concern for accountability and real leadership in Edo State. As the scandal continues to unfold, the call for Governor Obaseki to address these allegations head-on is growing louder.
