Recent developments witnessed the resignation of Saliu Lukman, the APC Vice Chairman (Northwest), and Ahmad El-Marzup, the Legal Adviser, alongside the nomination of two NWC members – Senator Abubakar Kyari and Dr.

Beta Edu – by President Bola Tinubu to ministerial positions. Tragically, one member of the NWC passed away.

Awaiting ratification by the National Executive Committee (NEC) are the following individuals: Dr. Stella Odey-Ekpo, the former Cross River State Commissioner for Local Government (Women Leader); Ali Dalori, the Borno State APC Chairman (Deputy National Chairman, North); Prof.

Abdulkarim Kana, former Nasarawa State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice (Legal Adviser); Martins Azubuike, the former Abia State House of Assembly Speaker (Welfare Officer); and Yahaya Ismail, former Special Adviser on Water Resources to Kogi State Governor (Deputy National Publicity Secretary).

These appointments align with the directive from the National Executive Committee (NEC).

A well-informed party insider communicated to The PUNCH, stating, “Although the formal designation for Lukman’s replacement is yet to be officially conveyed, sources indicate that Kaduna APC Chairman, Commodore Emmanual Jekada (retd.), is favored to assume the role of the next National Vice Chairman for North-West.”

He emphasized that these are proposed names and subject to alteration. As of now, the names have yet to be sanctioned by the NWC or submitted to the NEC as a collective body.

Additionally, the source dismissed the likelihood of a mini-convention, asserting that the party will ceremonially inaugurate the new appointees following the endorsement from the NEC.
