Speaking at the party’s Christmas Carol and Nine Lessons event on Sunday evening, the Chairman of Lagos State APC, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, urged Nigerians to thank God for using President Tinubu to bring about positive changes in the country. The event, themed “Christ in You, Hope of Glory,” was held at the party’s secretariat in Ogba, Lagos.

Ojelabi acknowledged the economic and political challenges of 2024 but praised the President for stabilizing the country during a turbulent period. He stated, “We thank God for giving us a president who is bold, courageous, and able to make decisions that will improve life for everyone in the long term.”

Looking ahead to 2025, Ojelabi reassured Nigerians that the “Renewed Hope” agenda led by President Tinubu was on course and that the nation would see even greater improvements in the coming year.

“We have no doubt that things will get much better next year,” Ojelabi said. He also highlighted the achievements of both President Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, calling on Nigerians to express gratitude for their leadership.

The APC leader emphasized that the Carol was an occasion to honor God for the blessings and progress the ruling party has experienced. “With all the efforts Mr. President is putting into developing the economy and the efforts of the governor of Lagos State, we need to thank God for everything,” Ojelabi said. He acknowledged that the administration’s reforms were gradually revamping the economy and improving the lives of Nigerians.

He also noted the APC’s growing membership as a sign of public support for the party’s philosophy. “Today, we are increasing in membership. This shows that the people are pleased with the philosophy of the All Progressives Congress,” he added.

Ojelabi encouraged Nigerians to remain focused and united in supporting the party’s vision for a sustainable future. “The Renewed Hope Agenda of this administration is in the best interest of our nation,” he emphasized.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Ibrahim Layode, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to its “THEME Plus” agenda and expressed gratitude for the APC’s continued support. Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians to remain optimistic, put aside differences, and embrace peace and unity for the continued growth and development of the state.

“We have every reason to be thankful for what God has used our party to achieve at the centre, state, and local governments. The journey of the APC is built on resilience, and we must remember the values that bind us,” he said.

Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Lagos State, also offered words of praise for the party’s leadership, commending them for organizing the Carol. He prayed for divine guidance to further enhance the development of Lagos State.

The event was attended by hundreds of APC members, party leaders, and officials from Governor Sanwo-Olu’s cabinet. Key attendees included Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, wife of the Lagos Deputy Governor, and Mrs. Salamotu Gbajabiamila, wife of the Chief of Staff to the President. The gathering also featured several members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, as well as representatives from traders’ associations and various religious and ethnic groups.
