APC Responds To PDP’s Allegations Of Vandalizing Party SecretariatThe Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as baseless the allegation that its members were responsible for attacking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Reports indicate that on Thursday, a group of thugs, allegedly led by Kapuepue, the younger brother of Tony Adun, also known as Tony Kabaka, invaded the PDP secretariat in Edo State, causing extensive damage. The attackers, reportedly linked to the APC, destroyed property worth millions of naira, including windows, doors, office equipment, and electronics. Several computers and other valuables were stolen during the raid. Witnesses said the assailants ransacked the building, seemingly intent on harming anyone inside.
In response to the incident, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, Chris Osa Nehikhare, condemned the attack, calling it a reckless attempt to intimidate the opposition party. He urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that those responsible face justice, warning against any further efforts to destabilize the PDP in the state.
However, the APC has vehemently denied involvement. Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, the APC Publicity Secretary, rejected the claim that the attackers were APC members. In an interview with Punch, he questioned how the PDP could identify the alleged assailants as APC thugs, wondering if the attackers were wearing APC uniforms.
Uwadiae-Igbinigie urged the PDP to address its internal issues without involving the APC, saying the accusation lacked evidence. He emphasized that the APC government, under Governor Monday Okpebhole, was already working on projects that the previous PDP administration had failed to implement, which he argued would benefit the people of Edo State.
He stated, “How can the PDP say that the thugs that attacked their party secretariat are APC members? Did the attackers have anything to indicate they were from the APC? The allegation is baseless and there is no proof.”
The APC spokesperson also stressed that the accusation was serious and criminal in nature, urging the PDP to ensure they have solid evidence before making such claims. “We will urge the PDP to sort out its internal issues and not drag the APC into their mess,” he added.
