APC’s Alleged Plot To Seize Power In Rivers State Thwarted, Says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s purported scheme to seize control of Rivers State has failed, asserting that the state remains firmly under PDP’s sway. This declaration follows a call by APC’s Chief Tony Okocha for the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State due to ongoing violence.

According to Okocha, Rivers State is engulfed in conflict, blaming identified parties for the fatalities. He urged federal intervention to quell the unrest. In response, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, criticized Okocha’s remarks as provocative and accused the APC of attempting to destabilize the state. He urged the APC and federal authorities to restrain Okocha, warning of threats to democracy and Nigerian stability.

Ologunagba reiterated that the PDP stands steadfast against any attempts by the APC to undermine the democratic will of Rivers State residents, emphasizing that such endeavors are doomed to fail. He called for the Inspector-General of Police to hold Okocha accountable for his statements, emphasizing the potential danger they pose to national security.
