Joining Omogoroye in facing disciplinary action are four party ward executives: Ayesan Tunde, the Organizing Secretary; Jemiken Seyi, Assistant Public Relations Officer; Adebayo Omobayo, Assistant Welfare Secretary; and Eweje Omotayo, Assistant Treasurer.
The suspension of Omogoroye was conveyed via a letter signed by the APC Chairman in the ward, Akinsowola Awodele, along with twelve other executive members. The party cited “anti-party activities and flagrant disobedience to the constituted authority of the party” as grounds for her suspension.
Omogoroye had contested the validity of the party’s primary election, alleging irregularities, and had filed a lawsuit seeking its annulment. The primary had resulted in the selection of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the party’s candidate.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party (LP) has taken steps to address internal conflicts within its Edo State chapter by dismissing the state executive led by Kelly Ogaloi and appointing a 17-man caretaker committee headed by former state House of Assembly Speaker, Elizabeth Ativie.
The decision to dissolve the state executive followed Julius Abure’s suspension by party leaders from Arue-Uromi in Esan North-East Local Government Area, on charges of highhandedness and anti-party activities. Despite the local suspension, the LP’s national body has upheld Abure’s position as national chairman.
The newly appointed caretaker committee aims to stabilize the party in Edo State, with Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi expressing confidence in Ativie’s leadership abilities. Ativie pledged to reconcile factions within the party and ensure unity ahead of the upcoming state governorship elections
