Aregbesola’s Political Pivot: Distancing From APC, Tinubu, As Campaign Office Undergoes Transformation....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has undertaken a significant transformation at his campaign office, making a bold departure from his ties with the All Progressives Congress (APC). Located within the distinguished Ayinke Towers, now renamed Oranmiyan House, along the Gbongan-Ibadan road in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, this four-storey edifice has been a central hub for Aregbesola’s political activities.

Initially serving as Aregbesola’s campaign headquarters and subsequently housing The Osun Progressives (TOP) until its dissolution in 2022, this building has witnessed a remarkable evolution. Formerly adorned with the colors and emblems of the APC, including flags and larger-than-life portraits of prominent figures like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor and APC National Chairman Bisi Akande, and ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, the campaign office now boasts a distinctly new appearance.

The sweeping changes include the removal of all APC-related materials, replaced by striking images of revered figures such as the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the late Chief Bola Ige, and Aregbesola himself. The imposing APC logo has made way for that of the Omoluabi Progressive Caucus, signaling a clear departure from the party’s affiliations.

This transformation is not limited to Osogbo; similar remodeling has been carried out at Aregbesola’s campaign office in his hometown of Ilesa. These alterations coincide with the preparations for the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.

Discussing this shift, a member of the Omoluabi Progressive Caucus in Ilesa, Kazeem Olanrewaju, emphasized a return to the foundational progressive principles that birthed the APC. Expressing disillusionment with the perceived deviation of figures like Tinubu and Akande from these ideals, Olanrewaju highlighted a commitment to impactful governance over mere political power.

Citing what he perceives as a lack of significant achievements during the recent tenure, Olanrewaju underscored the importance of genuine progressivism in governance. He assured that while the current changes signify a divergence from the APC, symbols and banners associated with the party may return in due course, emphasizing a nuanced approach to political alignment.

This decisive action by Aregbesola and his associates reflects a strategic repositioning in the political landscape of Osun State, signaling a departure from established affiliations in favor of a renewed focus on progressive governance and principles.
