Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, announced via X on Tuesday that the joint team acted on intelligence to conduct a swift operation in Konduga Local Government Area. This operation led to the seizure of 163 bags of a psychoactive substance known locally as “Goom” or “Akusukura,” totaling 2.5 tonnes.

Makama highlighted the critical role of timely information in combating both drug trafficking and terrorism. He stated, “The operation, conducted following a tip-off, resulted in the recovery of 163 bags of the substance, equivalent to 2.5 tons, in a warehouse in Konduga.”

Makama explained that the substance, which comes in various forms, is used in both liquid and powdered forms by individuals seeking to heighten psychological or nervous activity, essentially to get high.

The recovered items were handed over to the NDLEA team leader, and the area was secured by the military. Makama emphasized that this operation underscores the effectiveness of interagency collaboration and the commitment of the military and NDLEA to ensuring the safety of Nigeria.
