Slot, who replaced Jürgen Klopp in June 2024 and won the Premier League title in his first season, is now facing mounting pressure as Liverpool’s form dips. The team currently sits fifth in the table, just seven points above 13th-placed AFC Bournemouth.

Liverpool have picked up only one point from their last three league matches, including a defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. They were also knocked out of the FA Cup with a 4-0 loss to Manchester City and suffered a 2-0 first-leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals—marking their 16th loss of the season.

The performance in Paris, where Liverpool had just 26 percent possession and managed only three shots compared to PSG’s 18, drew criticism, with some questioning Slot’s future at the club.

However, Slot dismissed the concerns, stressing that he continues to receive backing from the club’s owners, as well as key figures like Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards, and also feels the support of the fans.

He pointed to the reaction of supporters, who continued to cheer and sing for the team even after heavy defeats, as proof of their loyalty.

The Dutch coach said the disappointing result against PSG could serve as motivation as Liverpool enter a crucial stage of the season, starting with their next fixture against Fulham. He emphasised the need for improvement and competitiveness, especially with ambitions of performing better in Europe next season.

Meanwhile, Slot confirmed that Andrew Robertson will leave the club when his contract expires this summer. He praised the defender’s contributions over nine years, highlighting his intensity, personality, and success, having won multiple trophies with the club.

Slot noted that although Robertson played less frequently this season, his impact and commitment to Liverpool remain significant, describing his time at the club as highly successful.
