The singer recently debuted a fresh appearance, featuring facial tattoos and a shorter hairstyle, moving away from his usual dreadlocks. His transformation has sparked curiosity among fans and the public.
In an interview on the red carpet at the 2025 Grammy Awards on Sunday, Asake explained that the decision was driven by his desire for comfort and self-expression. He emphasized that his new look was all about feeling at ease in his own skin, and it could change at any moment.
“This is how I feel right now,” Asake shared. “I like to feel comfortable in my appearance and do what feels right for me. It’s not about anyone else; it’s about how I feel at the moment. Tomorrow, I could wake up and not have these tattoos on my face.”
The ‘Ololade’ hitmaker also expressed his gratitude and excitement at being nominated for ‘Best African Music Performance’ at the 2025 Grammys for his hit song “MMS,” even though he lost out to Tems. “I feel blessed,” Asake said. “I know many people aspire to this, and for me to be among those chosen is an honor.”
