In the tweet dated March 28, 2021, Okupe expressed his belief that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is currently the President of Nigeria, would make a competent president. Despite Tinubu’s affiliation with the All Progressive Congress, Okupe stated his trust in Tinubu’s capabilities.

Previously serving as the Campaign Director-General for Peter Obi of the Labour Party during the 2023 presidential election, Okupe stepped down from his position following a suspension related to alleged money laundering charges of over 20 million.

He wrote; “Besides this, I personally see Bola Tinubu as a formidable opponent in the 2023 presidential race. ”

“Asiwaju is one of the most politically sagacious politician in this period. His acumen & administrative competence are worthy of commendation. In summary, Asiwaju would be a good president.”
