Atiku Breaks Silence: “No Grudge Against Okowa!” – Denies Plans To Dump PDP

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said he is unbothered by the defection of his former running mate in the 2023 presidential election, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Atiku’s behalf, his media aide Paul Ibe told The Nation that the PDP chieftain harbours no resentment over Okowa’s move, stressing that every individual has the democratic right to freedom of association.

He emphasized Atiku’s unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing reports of any planned defection as mere speculation.

“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar holds no grudge and has made that clear,” Ibe said. “As a true democrat, he respects everyone’s right to associate freely — a core principle of democracy.”

Ibe also recalled that Atiku had previously addressed the issue of political coalitions and made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the PDP.

“We don’t know the source of the rumours suggesting he’s dumping the PDP. He remains committed to the party,” Ibe added.
