The meeting saw the attendance of several key figures, including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, and Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, along with members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee, headed by former National Secretary Olagunsoye Oyinlola. Senators, House of Representatives members, State Assembly members, and other prominent party members from the region were also present.

While some party leaders who couldn’t attend sent representatives, Atiku was not represented at the meeting.

The discussions centered around efforts for reconciliation and strategic planning for the party’s future, especially for the 2027 elections. Topics included preparations for the upcoming PDP Zonal and National Conventions and ways to resolve internal conflicts to strengthen the party as the main opposition force.

During the meeting, PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Ilya Damagun, urged members to prioritize the party’s interests over personal ambitions. He stressed the importance of a strong, united PDP to achieve collective goals.

“The PDP is a Trojan horse – a tested and trusted party with experienced politicians. We have the capacity to weather any storm,” he said. “Nobody is above the party. If you go against its interests, we will part ways with you.”

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, also the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, emphasized the need for internal reconciliation and suggested rotating party positions as a potential solution to foster unity and reduce disagreements within the PDP.
