Despite hailing from Adamawa, Atiku contested the presidential election but was unsuccessful in defeating President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This marked Atiku’s sixth attempt at the presidency, including a previous contest under Asiwaju’s party, the ACN, in 2007, where he lost to the late Umar Yar’ Adua.
Atiku’s lack of success in previous elections has been attributed to his perceived deficiency in bridging the gap between the Northern region of Nigeria and the South-South, South-West, and South-East, in terms of building connections and fostering unity.
Deji claimed the Former vice president “does not believe in opposition as an establishment politician.”
He wrote; “Atiku is a very selfish person. He does not believe in opposition as an establishment politician. He will not fund them. He will only bring out dollars when it’s time for another primaries in 2027.”
