The State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, disclosed this during a press briefing held in Benin City on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. He highlighted the significant strides made in combating crime within the state, which have resulted in the recovery of various firearms and ammunition.
CP Adegboye stated that the arrest of George was facilitated by intelligence gathered in Benin City. During the operation, law enforcement officers seized a pump-action rifle, a double-barrel gun, and military camouflage from the suspect.
Upon interrogation, George confessed that the firearms belonged to his master, Ralph, who is currently evading arrest. The commissioner assured that efforts are underway to apprehend Ralph and bring him to justice.
Expressing concern over individuals like George who impersonate military personnel for illicit activities, CP Adegboye emphasized the importance of public cooperation in providing actionable intelligence to aid law enforcement efforts.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, reaffirming the commitment of security agencies to combat crime and ensure the safety of all residents in the state.
